Project—
Corporate Logo: Mnemonic Encryption Key is an engraved glass business sign and accompanying essay of the same name. The three images on glass–a cartoon, a still from news footage, and an angelic mother-like figure–appear in the 1995 film Johnny Mnemonic (dir. Robert Longo) as a memory device for the protagonist to access the information he carries in his head. Both works reflect on the film’s production history and the growing appropriation of early cyber aesthetics within corporate culture.
